School Counselor
About
For over two years, Claire Marston has been a Middle School Counselor in New York City. She has five years of experience teaching early childhood education as well. She obtained her Master's Degree in School Counseling from Southern Connecticut State University in May 2021. When counseling students individually and in groups, Claire uses a person-centered approach and incorporates CBT, DBT, and liberation psychology.
With choosing social emotional learning (SEL) lessons for classrooms, Claire uses empirically based programs and her own SEL lessons that are based on CASEL standards. Lessons she has created for classrooms include lessons on cultural celebration, consent and boundaries, empathy, and career exploration. Claire also provides workshops for staff members including presentations on gender identity and restorative circles. As both a school counselor and a foster parent, she works hard to support youth and their families on both a professional and personal level.
